Pontiac (Steam Ferry, 1883)
Photographed prior to her World War I Navy service. Formerly named Pioneer, and rebuilt in 1909, Pontiac was chartered by the Navy on 4 March 1918 and briefly served as USS Pontiac (ID # 2343). Returned to her owner on 5 June 1918, she was commandeered on 19 June. However, this action was cancelled and she was again returned to her owner in July 1918.
