Marshall Islands' Walap, bought 22 May 1880 by Otto Finsch in atoll Jaluit, from king Loik. At the time, the islands were under german protectorate. Loik was at war with king Kabua, and had enough walaps but was short on money. The boat is -not on display- in the ethnological museum in Berlin-Dahlem. |
