The 700 Yacht Club is one of Seoul's first yacht clubs. Founded in 2006, it is one of the first yacht clubs to organize racing events on the Han River. Most of the members do not own boats, and therefore the club provides 9 boats of various sizes for sailing lessons, team racing, match racing, teamwork seminars, and other member events. The Yacht Club has a full-time staff to maintain the boats. The facilities include a kitchen (with full-time cook), outdoor BBQ facilities, banquet facilities, pool table, and foosball table. Membership is open to all residents of South Korea, and consists of Korean citizens and expatriates working in Korea.
Yacht Club boats
The yacht club has the following boats available for members use:
- Wilderness - a large catmaran, one of the first sailing boats built in South Korea. The boat is equipped with two staterooms, a bathroom, a salon large enough for a small party, air-conditioned, equipped with Noraebang.
- Hunter 25 - an ideal boat for 2 to 6 guests
- Magnum 21 - a trimaran perfect for match racing events and learning to sail
- Yahama 26 - a racing/cruising sailboat built in Japan
- Admiralty - match racing boat designed by an America's Cup boat designer
Regattas
Yacht races are organized on a regular basis, including a series of annual traditional races:
- Thirsty Thursdays
- Corinthian Challenge
- Partner Races
- Opening Day Race
- Bentley Challenge
Additionally, the club members participate in yacht races around the world including the Phuket King's Cup Regatta and Singapore Straits Regatta, and the Canada Swiftsure.
