A dinghy that is Cat-rigged has the pulley(s) for the mainsheet located much further forward than the rudder in the manner of a catamaran. This restricts the sitting space for a single person to the back of the boat, between the rudder and the mainsheet. Having the weight distributed towards the back of the boat makes the boat faster in high winds (the force on the sail pushes the front of the boat down, so the weight at the back balances this), but makes it very slow in light winds. 'Byte magazine' - a Byte being a Cat-rigged dinghy - recommends sitting on the front of the boat, by the centerboard, in light winds.
