The Aventurier was a 16-gun brig of the French Navy.
Aventurier was built as a privateer, but was requisitioned for the Navy while she was still on keel. She then served with escort duty under Lieutenant Harang.
On 10 June 1796, she was wrecked off Pontusval, near Brignogan. Refloated, she cruised near Batz under Lieutenant Hurtel.
On 4 August 1798, while moored off Batz, she was captured by HMS Melpomene and Childers. She was brought into British service as HMS Aventurier'.
