Hornbeck Offshore Services
Hornbeck Offshore Services (NYSE: HOS) is a publicly traded corporation headquartered in Covington, a suburb of New Orleans providing offshore drilling and support services in the Gulf of Mexico and other areas. Their offshore supply vessels and Anchor Handling Vessels are from the latest generation, and the corporation recently issued new shares for expansion. They suffered no damage from recent hurricanes. The company also includes a Tug & Barge Fleet operating in the Gulf of Mexico, Puerto Rico & the East Coast.
HOS has been dogged by controversy recently. Accusations of securities fraud were alleged in several lawsuits in which the company negotiated an unprecedented walk away in the suit by all parties. The company's computer system was also hacked in early 2007, leading up to a raucous shareholder's meeting.
HOS has filed suit (Hornbeck Offshore Services LLC v. Salazar) in U.S. District Court seeking to enjoin the U.S. Department of the Interior from imposing a ban on deep water drilling.
