John Rousmaniere (b. March 10, 1944) is an American sailor and author of works on sailing and yachting history.

Early life and education

Rousmaniere was born in Kentucky on March 10, 1944, spent his early years in Ohio, and eventually settled on the shores of Long Island Sound.[1] He is an alumnus of St. Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire (1962); Columbia University (B.S. 1967, M.A. 1968); and Union Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1988).[2]

Professional career

Rousmaniere was an editor at Yachting magazine for several years[1] and is the historian of the New York Yacht Club.[3] He is also a member of the honorary advisory board of the National Sailing Hall of Fame.[4]

Rousmaniere is known for his books on yachting history and sailing instruction, particularly The Annapolis Book of Seamanship which has gone through three editions since its initial publication in 1983.
