The Padre Eterno was a galleon of the Portuguese Navy, built in the Colony of Brazil in the 17th Century. It was built in Rio de Janeiro, on Galeão Point, close to the present site of the Galeão beach, on Governador Island.
According to the periodical Mercurio Portuguez, it was considered to be the biggest ship of her time.
The first portion of the name of Rio de Janeiro/Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport is a reference to a beach close to the airport. The beach in turn got its name from the galleon Padre Eterno, which was built at this location.
