Admiral Sergei Gorshkov is the lead ship of the new Russian Admiral Sergei Gorshkov frigate class. The ship was laid down in the Severnaya shipyard in St.Petersburg on February 10, 2006 and will be commissioned in 2010-2011. Russia intends to build up to 20 ships of this class.

The frigate will be able to execute long-range strike, anti submarine and escort missions in far sea zones and according to some sources was based upon Project 1135.6 Talwar/Krivak IV class frigate developed for India. It has a displacement of 4.500 tons and a length of 132 meters.
