Celebrity Silhouette is a Solstice-class cruise ship, currently under construction for Celebrity Cruises. To be built by Meyer Werft of Germany, Celebrity Silhouette will be launched during 2011. As of March 10th, 2010 the first piece of steel has been cut.[3]
Design and construction
The fourth of five ships in the Solstice class, Celebrity Silhouette is being constructed by Meyer Werft at their shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.[4][5] Celebrity Silhouette is to be built to the same design as the preceding three ships: as of the end of 2009, there were no plans to modify or improve the design during construction.[6] The completed ship will be 349.3 metres (1,146 ft) in length overall, with a beam of 36.9 metres (121 ft), and a tonnage value of 122,400 gross tons.[7] Like the preceding ships, Celebrity Silhouette will carry 2,886 passengers.[4] 90% of the staterooms have outside views, and 85% have verandas.[4]
The vessel's name was publicly announced on 21 December 2009.[6] The ship is set to be launched in 2011.[6]
Facilities
Facilities aboard Celebrity Silhouette will include:
- The Lawn Club, a country club-like activity centre on the uppermost deck, with a half-acre of grass.[4]
- A glassblowing show and studio developed by the Corning Museum of Glass.[4]
- The second iLounge; a combination internet cafe and Apple Store.[5]

Celebrity Silhouette sets sail for the first time in July 2011, she will offer a unique maiden voyage from Hamburg to Rome and a special nine-night Mediterranean voyage. Then, she will offer a series of 12- and 13-night Holy Land sailings roundtrip out of Rome. Celebrity Equinox also will sail from Rome, offering 10- and 11-night roundtrip Mediterranean cruises.
