Helsingfors Segelsällskap Yacht Club or HSS, is the second oldest yacht club in Helsinki, established in 1893. The yacht club is home harbor for more than one thousand members and 300 mainly sail boats. The club is located on Liuskasaari island in Helsinki. Liuskasaari is a few minutes ferry ride away from Merisatamanranta.

Helsingfors Segelsällskap is renowned for its wooden sailing boat fleet and its Match Racing centre and frequent sailing competitions. The classic fleet consists of over fifty classic yachts mainly in the Metre boat classes. The club has a large fleet on 8 mR, 6 mR, 5.5 Metre and 5 Metre boats as well as Skerry cruisers, Folk Boats, Classic Dragons, Hai boats and classic Cruising yachts.

HSS has a very active junior section with 50 active sailors between five and fitften years of age. The juniors mainly sail with a large fleet of Optimists. In 2009 HSS launched an olympic match race center with a fleet of 6 brand new Elliott 6m boats in addition to the older fleet of 8 Laser 16 boats. The club also has an extensive program of adult sailing courses. The club has a long tradition in smaller keel boat competition. The H-boat class was initiated by the club in 1967 and constructed by HSS member Hans Groop. Earlier, in the 30ies, the club had initiated the Hai-boat. Both classes eventually grew to become the biggest in competitive Finnish sailing in during their heyday in the 50ies and the 80ies.
